Thanks for telling us about the problem. It was a very slow read for me. It tried to make me cry a few times, but didn’t really succeed, and some of the dialog didn’t quite feel 16th century to me. Of interest to me was a new perspective of Sir Thomas More, not as the long-suffering chancellor who becomes a martyr himself rather than aid Henry’s mission to break with Rome and establish himself as head of the church in order to divorce Katharine and marry Anne.
What is worse, the relationship between protagonist Kate and her romantic interest John Frith commits one of the unforgivable sins of historical fiction, transplanting 21st century sensibilities into people who lived years ago.

It’s a good story, but the writing is a bit contrived. The only reason I’ve relented librefa started putting stars up there is to credit the good ones, which were being unfairly uncredited.
